Guapimirim
The city is located in a valley at the base of Pico Dedo de Deus (Dedo de Deus
Peak – a peak in the shape of a finger, called Finger of God), a geographical
feature, symbol of the region, which can be seen from many other points.
This region is considered a natural sanctuary untouched by men: about 70% of
its territory is spread over 5 environmental protection areas. It is worth pointing
out that one of them is in a mangrove area nicknamed the pantanal fluminense
(Rio version of the Pantanal), where is it still common to see broad snouted
caimans.
To complete the program, visit the waterfalls Caneca Fina and Soberbo, which
invite us for a refreshing bath in its natural pools. The city also offers pleasant
walks to appreciate the rich and diverse flora of Guapimirim.
