Itatiaia
The city of Itatiaia shelters the main attraction of the region, the Itatiaia National
Park. The city has a great tourist infrastructure, including innumerous hotels
and restaurants. The indigenous name of the place – Itatiaia, means “cliff filled
tips” – indicating the mountain range landscape of the city, appreciated for its
hydrographic richness and waterfalls of the surroundings. In the lower regions,
large trees and the rich fauna of the Atlantic Forest are imposed.
