Porto Real
The origin of the name Porto Real (meaning royal port) is associated with the
constant presence of the Royal Family, which used to make a stop in the hamlet
during their summer travels.
The touristic importance of this city is also connected to the traditions of Italian
culture brought more than one hundred years ago by Italian immigrants who
made this place the 1st Italian colony in Brazil, always present in the typical
festivals of the city.
