Macaé
Known as Princesinha do Atlântico (Little Princess of the Atlantic), it is currently
one of the most prosperous cities of Rio de Janeiro. The huge oil exploration in
the region does not obscure its call for ecotourism.
In addition to including a strip of Parque Nacional da Restinga de Jurubatiba
(Jurubatiba Shoal National Park), it also has a precious set of natural attractions
represented by beaches, forests, islands, rivers, waterfalls, and lagoons. The
major tourist attraction is the very rich ecological complex of Sana, where Rio
Sana (Sana River) flows, located in the Mountain Range Region.
