Rio Claro
Rio Claro was founded in 1849. The city has crystal clear rivers, forests,
waterfalls and mountains, where they combine with historic tradition and the
countryside life atmosphere. From the slope of the Morro do Rastro (Trail Hill),
a 130 m high rocky wall, the 3 falls of the Rio Claro waterfall descend.
In this city it is also possible to practice ecotourism and radical sports like
rafting down the Rio Piraí (Piraí River). In addition, it is possible to fish in
other rivers, especially during the months of March and September when the
Represa de Ribeirão das Lajes (Ribeirão das Lajes Dam) becomes a fish dam
of peacock bass.
